Common Questions

What if I haven't dived in a long time? expand_more
If your last dive was more than 6–12 months ago, we'll arrange a short Scuba Review (refresher dive) in our lagoon. It's a safe, relaxed way to get comfortable again with your equipment and buoyancy before heading out on the boat.
Can I rent equipment or do I need to bring my own? expand_more
We have a full range of modern, fully serviced rental equipment (wetsuits, BCDs, regulators, fins and masks). If you bring your own gear, you're welcome to rinse it and store it at our centre for the whole duration of your holiday.
Is dive insurance mandatory for already-certified divers? expand_more
Yes — safety comes first. All certified divers are required to have specific insurance covering diving accidents and any hyperbaric chamber treatment (e.g. DAN or similar). If you don't have one, don't worry: we can arrange temporary insurance coverage directly on your arrival at the dive centre.
My child is 8 years old — can they try scuba diving? expand_more
Absolutely! At 8 years old, children can take their first steps into the world of scuba diving with the PADI Bubblemaker program. It's a fun, safe experience led by an instructor directly in our sheltered lagoon, in calm, confined water at a maximum depth of 2 metres. It's the perfect way to get comfortable blowing bubbles in the real Maldivian sea! (Note: for the full Open Water Diver course, the minimum age is 10.)
Do I need a medical "fitness to dive" certificate to dive or take a course? expand_more
Before starting any activity, we'll ask you to fill in a standard medical questionnaire. If you answer "NO" to all the health questions, no medical certificate is required. However, if you answer "YES" to any of the items (e.g. heart conditions, asthma, recent surgery), by law you'll need to provide a medical certificate of fitness for diving issued by a doctor within the last 12 months. If in doubt, we recommend getting a check-up with your doctor before you travel.
Do you provide Nitrox for free? expand_more
Yes! For all Nitrox-certified divers, enriched air (Nitrox 32%) is available free of charge. Diving with Nitrox in the Maldives is ideal for increasing your safety margins and reducing fatigue, especially if you plan to do several dives a day. If you're not certified yet, you can take the Enriched Air Nitrox course directly with us during your holiday!
Snorkeling & Excursions
I've never snorkelled — can I join the boat excursions? expand_more
Absolutely! Our expert guides always give a safety and basic-technique briefing before entering the water. We provide life jackets for anyone who doesn't feel 100% confident, and the guide stays in the water with the group for the whole excursion.
Is snorkelling equipment included in the excursions? expand_more
Snorkelling equipment (mask, snorkel and fins) is not included in the excursions or for free use on the House Reef. You can rent the full kit or individual pieces directly at our dive centre; you'll find all the detailed prices in the price list available here on our website.
